the Shiv Mandir is one of the most ancient temples of the Jalandhar region. It
exhibits an amalgamation of Hindu-Muslim architecture, representing the
tolerance between the two religions. The shrine dates back to the Lodhi era and
was built by a Nawab who ruled Jalandhar.

Legend
The legend behind this temple says that once a Nawab who
ruled the area fell in love with a Hindu married woman. She refused his
advances and was saved from the Nawab's clutches by a serpent. A huge devotee
of Lord Shiva, she believed that the Lord had sent his serpent to save her. The
Nawab, repenting his mistake, decided to build a temple for Lord Shiva
honouring the women's devotion.

The temple displays a blend of Hindu-Muslim architecture.
The front gate is built in classic Muslim style of architecture, while the rest

the serpent is also worshipped.
