Shri Maddie Anjaneya Swamy Temple | Andhra Pradesh, West Godavari

Situated at Jangareddy Gudem, West Godavari District, Andhara Pradesh, Sri Maddi Anjaneya Swamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Built by Reddyraju Kings, the temple was built on November 1st, 1166 A.D.

Legend

According to the legends, a demon Madvasura, an ardent devotee of Hanuman used to work in the court of Ravana and during the war he left his body as he was unwilling to fight against Hanuman. In Dwaparayuga, he took birth as Madvakudu who used to work with Kauravas and he left the war zone seeing the flag of Hanuman on top of Arjuna's Chariot in the final battle. Architecture

The temple architecture was designed by famous architect Late Ganapathi Sthapati. The idol of Lord Hanuman is sitting on a Maddi tree with fruit in one hand and Gadha on the other hand. The temple flooring is made of black tiles and the outer walls and mandapa of the temple is designed with sculptures of Gods.
